5 Tips for Improving Your Holiday Marketing

Are You Ready for the Holiday Sale Season?

The single best time of the year for any maker of handcrafted quality goods is, without a doubt, the holidays. By November, your potential customers will be scouring the online marketplaces for just the right gift for family and friends. As well as picking up new accessories for holiday entertaining! Get the sales season off to a great start this year with the following marketing upgrades!

Punch Up Your Branding

Give your shop a bright new look with some fresh promotional materials. At your online shop, tweak your presentation with an updated logo, layout, or color choices to catch a customer’s eye. You should also be ready to appeal to potential buyers in person, as well- get some fresh business cards printed up, and upgrade your branding with a custom rubber stamp- they’re inexpensive and will be a great improvement over peel and stick labels!

Know What’s Trending

It’s always a good idea to know what’s hot for the coming season. Whether it’s the trendy colors for clothing and jewelry, or what’s hot for home accessories, you should know what your customers will not only be looking for when they type in search terms, but also be attracted to when they browse your shop! Is your classic charcuterie board not in need of any modernization? Then consider some new photos for your online shop using the current color trends!

Add Options

Give a potential buyer some options to help them make a decision. If you’re selling earrings, search out beads in various semi-precious stones to give them a color choice. If they’re buying for someone who loves green, for instance, you have a better chance of making a sale if one version is made of peridots, rather than limiting the choice to rose quartz and turquoise!

Give Customers a Complete Package

You know most of your November and December sales will be for holiday gifts- offer customers some extras to make their gift-buying easier! Throw in gift-wrapping or a hand-painted gift tag as a bonus, or an inexpensive trinket for a stocking stuffer or present topper. Give them the option of delivering directly to the recipient. The less they have to do, the more attractive your merchandise!

Connect in Person at a Craft Fair

Even if you don’t do many craft fairs or artisan markets, it’s a good idea to sign up for one or two during the holiday buying season. You’re guaranteed a good flow of browsers with a list in hand, looking for a way to finish off their holiday shopping so that they can sit back and enjoy the season! A well-stocked, attractively laid-out booth can pay off for you- and it’s a great way to get to know your market as you develop new items in the New Year!
